"Deacon Stanley
Featherstone has been a very faithful and active member
of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden under the
leadership of Pastor John K. Jenkins, Sr. since February
1991. He has served in various ministry capacities
within the church including Director of the Men’s
Ministry from 1992-1997. He serves as an Armor bearer to
Pastor Jenkins and has been an ordained Deacon since
February 1994. He currently serves as Church
Administrator of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden
and provides oversight to all matters of business
operations, a position he has held since leaving the
military since October 2006.
In October 1996, the then Major Featherstone was hired
for the newly created position of Church Administrator
and subsequently resigned his commission from the United
States Army after nearly 14 years of service. Although
he was experiencing tremendous success in the military,
having been promoted “below the zone” to Major and being
considered in the top 5 % of his peers, God turned this
young officer’s heart from military to ministry.
Deacon Featherstone is a 1983 cum laude graduate from
the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff. He has been
married to his college sweetheart, the lovely Angelette
Hicks, since 1984. They have four children: David
Angelo, Victoria Nicole, Emmanuel Lewis and Elisha
Stanley. They reside in Bowie, Maryland.
